2021 came auspicious: WhatsApp broke a record at the New Year
WhatsApp had a significant success on the New Year. The messaging application, with the effect of the coronavirus, developed billions of voice and video calls as the year 2020 ended, breaking the record for 'most calls in a day on WhatsApp'.
We left
behind a New Year's Eve during the coronavirus period. Many people could not
come together as they wanted this New Year. Some families, even from a
distance, conveyed their New Year wishes to each other. Here, the names of the
intermediaries were applications such as Zoom and WhatsApp that allow voice and
video calls. People entered the new year by making video and audio calls. This
situation was also reflected in the numbers of WhatsApp.
As the
year 2020 ends and says hello to 2021, WhatsApp announced that 1.4 billion
voice and video calls were made, more than 50 percent of last year's number.
This is the all-time record for the popular messaging app. This includes the
early stages of the pandemic. Moreover, other applications that continue their
activities under the umbrella of Facebook also experienced a big increase at
the beginning of the year like WhatsApp.
Facebook
Messenger also nearly doubled the average number of daily calls for group calls
within the US and broke a record. 55 million live broadcasts were broadcast
worldwide on Facebook Live and Instagram Live. The figures once again show how
important it is to search online to preserve Christmas traditions, especially
at a difficult time like a pandemic.
